This web site is for Delta Pilots interested in signing a petition to encourage "DALPA" to negotiate the following addition to the pilot uniform policy: - Approve leather jackets as part of the official Delta pilot uniform. Example from Perrone Apparel Examples from other airlines... American Airlines American Airlines (with boards and wings on) United Airlines Southwest AirlinesUPS Pros and Cons of Leather Jackets Pros Leather Jackets: 1) Can pull double duty. -Removable name tag and shoulder boards allow pilots to wear the jacket while in street clothes during layovers. 2) Keep pilots warmer than the jacket/trench coat combo. 3) Provide a more professional aviator appearance (vs. the trench coat). 4) Fit in flight deck closets. -Nearly 52 % of our fleet (387 planes) have small flight deck closets that do not accommodate jackets and trench coats for 2 pilots. Cons 1) Price. -Quality leather jackets are in the $350-$400 range. We are not asking the company to abandon the double breasted jackets and trench coats. We simply wish to add leather jackets to the list as an approved alternative to the current winter uniform. We believe a carefully selected jacket, with attention to name tag and shoulder board design, will produce a very professional look the company can be proud of while providing pilots with the comfort, warmth, and functionality they deserve. Instructions for signing the petition: 1) Provide your first and last name and ensure the box marked "Show my name in the online signature" is checked (this should be the default setting). 2) Provide a valid email address.
